Rental Policies
Our goal is to provide a safe, enjoyable, and stress-free paddling experience for every guest on the Susquehanna River and Bald Eagle Creek. Please review our rental requirements and participant guidelines before your trip.
Rental Requirements
All paddlers must be physically capable of operating their craft and comfortable around moving water.
Properly fitted life jackets (PFDs) must be worn at all times while on the water.
A signed liability waiver is required for every participant before departure.
Ages & Supervision
- Minors must be accompanied by an adult (21+) who takes full responsibility for their safety.
- Children under 14 should paddle in a tandem kayak with an adult.
Groups & Minors

Participants must be at least 6 years old to participate in kayak or canoe rentals.

Children ages 6–13 must ride in the same watercraft with a parent, legal guardian, or responsible adult approved by Bald Eagle Valley Kayak Company.

Participants ages 14–17 may paddle solo only with signed parental or guardian consent and with a responsible adult participating within the group.

All participants under age 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian prior to participation.
Expectations & Safety
BEV Kayak reserves the right to determine watercraft assignments and trip sections based on conditions.
Trips may be modified or cancelled due to inclement weather or river flow warnings.
Alcohol and drug use are strictly prohibited on all rentals and shuttle trips.

On-Water Rules
- Stay to the right of the channel
- Yield to motorized vessels
- Maintain visible distance from other crafts
- No alcohol during operation
- Observe local river flow warnings
Required Gear
- Coast Guard-approved PFD (worn)
- Whistle or sound device
- Appropriate water footwear
- Mobile phone in dry bag
- Sun protection & hydration
Emergency Procedures
- Capsize: Stay with your boat
- Medical: Signal with whistle
- Severe Weather: Paddle to shore immediately
- Shuttle Delay: Call the base office
- Lost Gear: Prioritize personal safety first
Cancellation & Weather Policies
Adventure on the Susquehanna River and Bald Eagle Creek is an outdoor experience influenced by nature. Please review our policies to ensure you are prepared for your trip.
Rain or Shine
- Trips operate rain or shine; getting wet is part of the fun!
- Dress for the forecast—we recommend quick-drying, non-cotton layers.
- Light rain does not prevent paddling, but always be prepared for the unexpected.
Hazardous Conditions
- Safety is our non-negotiable priority.
- Trips may be delayed or cancelled due to: high water or flooding, lightning and thunderstorms, or dangerous wind speeds.
If we cancel for safety, you'll receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
Cancellations & Fee
- Cancellations within 72 hours incur a $10 per person fee.
- Same-day cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full reservation amount.
- Plans change? Contact us immediately to discuss weather concerns or rescheduling.
Your Safety and Participation Waiver
We want you to have a secure and peaceful time on the water. Before we set off, please read these simple guidelines to ensure a wonderful day for everyone.
General Enrollment
- Everyone needs to sign our waiver before getting on the water or in a shuttle. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must help. Your signature simply means you know our safety plan.
Nature Awareness
- Paddling is a natural adventure with changing currents and weather. By joining us, you acknowledge these outdoor elements. Following our team's guidance helps stay safe while protecting your gear.
How You Can Help
- Please keep your life jacket fastened while on the water. Treat the river and equipment with care. Let us know if you have any health needs so we can take the best possible care of you today.
Important: We prioritize safety. Choosing not to follow these simple rules may end your trip early.
